Conference background
Along with rapid increase in wastewater treatment capacity in China, the sludge production is considerably increased. The municipal wastewater treatment capacity in China was 60 milliards m3, and the production of wet sludge with moisture content of 80% reached 4 millions tons in 2015. The investigation result shows that 80% of the sludge produced from WWTPs in China is not properly treated and disposed, which causes serious pollution and attracts considerable attention. In the 13th five-year plan, the sludge treatment and disposal will become one of the key fields.
