Philippe Ciais is currently an academician of the French Academy of Science and a foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. In the field of global change, especially in the field of global biogeochemical cycles and the interactions between climate change and terrestrial ecosystems, he has published more than 800 academic papers, of which more than 120 papers have been published in top academic journals such as Nature, Science, PNAS and their sub-journals. Philippe Ciais is one of the most active and highly cited scientists in the field of global climate change research, with more than 150,000 citations (Google Scholar) and more than 90,000 citations in the past five years, with an H-factor of 167. Philippe Ciais has received more than 18 million euros in global and EU funding for scientific research projects, led the construction of the Integrated Carbon Observation System covering 17 European countries, and successfully developed ICOS into a flagship research project in the field of climate change in the EU, with more than 60 observation sites in stable operation and an annual operating budget of 20 million euros. Philippe Ciais also serves as co-chair of the Global Carbon Observation Strategy of the Group on Earth Observation and co-chair of the Global Carbon Project, and as lead author coordinator of Working Group I of the UN IPCC Fifth Assessment Report. Received the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize with the IPCC team.
